KMI was the Project Manager and owner’s agent for the completion and implementation phase of a luxury “boutique” hotel project in Miami, Florida. The Shore Club combines two of the most revered art deco properties in Miami’s historic South Beach—the original Shore Club and the Sharalton.
Renowned British architect David Chipperfield married the two properties and four existing structures in glamorous South Beach style, completely refurbishing the existing structures and adding eight two-story private cabanas, a 21-story tower with a tower bar and a 6,000 SF rooftop three-level penthouse. The penthouse includes a 2,000 SF rooftop terrace with a private lap pool overlooking both the Miami skyline and the Atlantic Ocean.
The resort includes 300 guestrooms, four pools, a rooftop spa directly overlooking the beach and two restaurants--the Sirena and the world-renowned Nobu.
The Shore Club Project Facilitator
KMI was requested by the owner and lender to intervene on the troubled project, which was more than one year late and considerably over budget. KMI rectified local building code enforcement issues by establishing a professional rapport and working closely with Miami Beach regulatory agencies, thus re-energizing the project and opening all buildings, kitchens, bars and the Nobu and Sirena restaurants.
The Shore Club Spa
KMI managed the design, permitting and construction of this world-class spa, located on the 8th floor--once the roof of the old Sharalton Hotel. The spa features a solid teak floor throughout and outside treatment rooms overlooking Miami Beach.
The Shore Club Hotel
KMI took over project and construction management to complete the refurbishment of three existing structures of the old Shore Club hotel, the complete refurbishment of the old Sharalton hotel, including a basement kitchen and two renowned restaurants, Nobu and Sirena. In addition, KMI led the completion and fit-out of a new 21-story tower structure featuring a three-story, 6,000 SF penthouse with a roof-top swimming pool. Eight new two-story cabanas near the pools were also completed.
