The New Breakwater & Tender Pier at Wickham’s Cay
Location Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Owner British Virgin Islands Ports Authority
Photo Gallery
The New Tender Dock, located at Wickhams Cay, was a two-phase project with both phases running concurrently. The construction was performed using local trade contractors. The intent of this facility is to relieve the excessive congestion in Road Town when 3 cruise ships are in port.

Kraus-Manning, Inc. was the Owner’s project manager responsible for maintaining all construction documents (drawings, specifications, critical path schedules, permits) and managing all work and production schedules and conducted weekly meetings with the contractor.

Phase I consists of a piled, bulkhead dock, measuring 334 feet in length that will be used for cruise ships visiting the islands. The new pier will be able to handle two ships at one time which will help alleviate much of the congestion that incurs when the ships come into Road Town dock.

Phase II is the Ferry Pier, which consists of a pile pier, 120 feet in length and 30 feet wide with a protective breakwater which will provide additional protection to the area in the vicinity of The Moorings and will provide a calm area which could be further developed.
